WNYT ALBANY NBC & Buddy Foy Jr

Speaker 1:
… Restaurant struggling to stay open. Tonight, we meet a family that owns three restaurants in the Lake George area, and also star in a new reality show on The Food Network called Summer Rush. Jacquie Slater reports from Bolton Landing.

Speaker 2:
Don’t need competition from my own mother.

Jessie Foy:
You’re out of your mind.

Jacquie Slater:
Meed the Foys, this Bolton Landing based family, now the stars of the reality show, Summer Rush, on The Food Network. No, they’re not being overly dramatic for the cameras. This is what it’s really like at the three restaurants they own. Parents, Buddy Sr. and Cate, own Cate’s Italian Garden, and Buddy Foy Jr. and his wife, Jen, own The Chateau On The Lake. Jesse Foy and his wife own Diamond Point Grill.
Hey, why should people come to your restaurant and not theirs?

Jessie Foy:
Because of me. I’m in there. I’m cooking all the time. My dad’s usually sitting on the bar, drinking a wine. My brother’s usually talking too much to customers.

Jacquie Slater:
Buddy Jr. was the one who was originally approached to do the show. The premise is a close up look at what it’s like to run a restaurant in a tourist town where the bulk of your profits must be made in three short months.

Buddy Foy, Jr.:
We all need to be operating at 125% capacity, not 50 or 75. This business requires 125% capacity in order to pay your bills.

Cate Foy:
It was fun, little hectic being open for business, and shooting, having cameras around you and bright lights around you. But it was fun.

Jacquie Slater:
The Foys say it’s a good mix of family values and all of the drama found in kitchens and dining rooms across the country. Interesting tidbit, they don’t get to preview the shows before they air.

Buddy Foy, Jr.:
Tonight we’re being told there’s a lot more surprises, so maybe they’re feeding us slowly on the drama and the surprise element. But we’re being told, “Prepare.”

Jacquie Slater:
The Foys are hoping the show is a hit and a Season Two could be in the works.

Buddy Foy, Sr.:
This is a shout out to all the people that are in our industry. We know how hard it is. We hope we represent you guys in the proper manner.
